| タイトル | An effective approach to overcoming hate insects～In enviromental education practice～ |
| 内容 | 自然保護教育は、1955年に創設された三浦半島自然保護の会をきっかけに広まった。1960年代には、自然保護教育に根差した自然観察会が広まっていく日本の学習指導要領にも、1993年から「自然観察」は導入されている。自然と関わる活動の中心的な内容として、小動物を飼育することに代わって、昆虫を観察・飼育する試みが増えている。しかし、その中で問題となるのが「虫嫌い」だ。実際に大学生を対象としたアンケートでも、42％が「虫を嫌い」と答え、30％が「虫を触れない」と回答した。では、環境教育において虫への嫌悪感を少しでも減らすためには、どのようなアプローチが必要なのか。2年間ゼミ活動で過ごしたガーデンにて、虫への嫌悪感を減らすためのワークショップを行った |
| 講評 | Insects are vital to our survival. But a fear of insects has often overshadowed our dependance on them, resulting in the use of pesticides and widespread failure in insect conservation. In this study, Hana examines and character of entomophobia among Japanese young people and explores the possibility of using a workshop format to raise awareness. She convincingly shows that the approach has much potential and that, with some adjustments, could help change perceptions and behavior. |
