| タイトル | Impressions of Japan by Returnees: Relationship Between an Individual’s Degree of Introversion and Extroversion and Congruence of National Character |
| 内容 | The term "returnee" generally refers to people who have lived abroad for reasons such as their parents' work and then returned to their home country. Because they have to leave their familiar environment and move suddenly to an unknown world, they may have problems adjusting to their new surroundings and schools. One of the major factors in these adjustment problems is the compatibility between the nature of the individual's personality and the national character of the destination country. This paper examined how returnees feel about their home country, Japan, using interviews, and a diagnostic test to measure their individual level of introversion and extroversion. Those who felt more comfortable in Japan were more likely to be introverts, the opposites were extroverted, and those who were closer to ambivert were more likely to be ambiguous in their judgments. However, no matter what the results were, when asked about their impressions of Japanese people and Japan, most of the respondents gave a negative impression first. The compatibility with the nature of their personality had an impact, but their experiences (bullying, activities outside of school, racial attitudes, school curriculum etc.) also had a significant impact on the results. |
| 講評 | 本年度は11本（英語５本、日本語６本）の卒論が執筆された。しっかりした内容で書かれたものと未熟なものの差が目立った。差が生じた原因として考えられるのは、３回生のとき作成した企画書を研究スケジュール通りに順調に進めた学生と先延ばしにされてしまって、なかなか上手に進められなかった学生の違いである。 卒論の質の差があるにかかわらず、どの論文も人類学的なまたは社会学的なアプローチと理論の理解については、ある程度のレベルが見えた。今年度の研究テーマは①Japan’s recurrent education (日本におけるリカレント教育) ②「早生まれ」と性格形成 ③ SNSとナショナルアイデンティティの揺らぎ ④ ライフステージと趣味への影響 ⑤ Single parent homes and juvenile delinquency (ひとり親家族と少年非行) ⑥ Homelessness in Japan (日本におけるホームレス問題の現状) ⑦ 在日中国人学生の自国友人関係 ⑧ Impressions of Japan by returnees (帰国子女による日本への印象) ⑨ Japanese subculture experiences among Chinese exchange students (中国人留学生における日本のサブカルチャー経験) ⑩ 「日本人」の捉え方 ⑪ 女子大学生のライフコース及びキャリアプランと就職活動である。 調査方法に関しては、ほとんどのゼミ生が半構造化インタビューを行い、中には資料分析及びアンケート調査を行った学生もいる。インタビュー調査を中心として行った学生は、効果的なインタビューガイドを作成し、対象者と良いラポール形成ができたと思われる。その一方で、理論的な分析、概念的な枠組みに関しては不十分のものもあった。 コロナによって、2年間、教育及び調査への悪影響があったにも関わらず、全員が卒業論文を完成させることができたので、誇りを思ってほしいと思う。卒業後も、このような大変な経験を生かして、どんな困難な状況でも諦めず、成果が出るまでやり遂げてほしいと思う。 |
