This paper examines the attitude and behavior of university students towards the natural environment over the past two years. Our planet faces severe environmental crises, including global warming, waste disposal, acid rain, loss of biodiversity, pollution, and so on. Though Japan is said to be one of the countries that has contributed to such problems and its government has taken some steps to solve the situation, few Japanese have traditionally paid attention to environmental problems. However, the number of people who care about nature is increasing recently. One indicator is the rising number of people who are showing pro-environment behavior. Why have some Japanese changed their actions toward the environment? Is there some relationship between the change and COVID-19? This study explores the current situation of green issues in Japan, looking in particular at data on the changing of people’ pro-environmental behavior. In addition, it includes a survey of university students about the change of their behavior toward the environment. |
